The Stormer HVM (High Speed Missiles) air defense system is a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system on a tracked chassis. Its main purpose is to protect objects in the immediate area from air attack and reconnaissance.
Developed by Alvis plc, the British FV4333 Stormer armored personnel carrier is used as a base. The armored personnel carrier uses a lightweight and strong welded aluminum body with bullet and anti-splinter protection.
Stormer has high mobility and very compact dimensions. A 250 hp Perkins T6 3544 diesel engine is mounted in its front compartment, capable of accelerating the 14-ton machine to 80 km/h. The range reaches 600 km. The undercarriage is six-cylinder with torsion suspension. The crew of the Stormer HVM air defense system is 3 people.
A special rotary launcher for eight Starstreak missiles was installed on the Stormer HVM turret. Another 12 missiles are stored in the aft compartment of the hull. Next to the launcher, a panoramic sight is installed with a thermal imaging channel and an air threat warning system for recognizing and prioritizing targets.

The Starstreak missile can hit a target at a maximum altitude of 5-7 km and a range of 7 km. After launch, it flies to the target at more than 1 km per second! This means that the enemy aircraft or helicopter has little time to maneuver. Also, instead of one high-explosive warhead, the missile uses three separate warheads – a tungsten dart that hits the target at the final stage of the attack.
