This was reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
The diameter of the space rock is about 122 meters, according to NASA. It will arrive as close as possible to Earth at a distance of 2.8 million kilometers at 02:02 Kyiv time on Saturday.
Newsweek states that the speed of the asteroid is about 55,500 km per hour, which is about 17 times faster than a bullet fired from a rifle and about a fifth faster than lightning.
This asteroid is not considered “potentially dangerous”, since its length does not exceed 150 meters, but on July 30 its maximum distance from our planet will be less than 7.5 million kilometers. To be defined as “potentially dangerous” it must meet both parameters.
As reported, the asteroid 2022 KY4 flew past Earth on July 17.
