huawei announced the 2022 generation MatePad Pro 11a thin and light tablet that comes to expand the product catalog of the company they use Harmony OS, an operating system that emerged as a result of a veto enacted by the Trump administration in the United States at the time. Despite its political origins, it does not hurt to have more options in a market that is excessively prone to oligopolies and strong dominant positions.

Tablets are a type of device that, at least in the West, fell out of fashion a long time ago because they fell between two waters: they were too big to replace a smartphone and too limited to replace a PC. However, the fact that the Huawei MatePad Pro 11 uses HarmonyOS as a system gives it some distinct value as a product, although it is still a tablet.

On the feature level, the new Huawei MatePad Pro 11 includes a screen 11-inch OLED running in native resolution 2560 x 1600 pixels and at refresh rate 120 Hz. On the same front, it also supports 10-bit color and 600 nits of brightness.

Other notable aspects are its weight 449 grams, its thickness is 5.9 millimeters, a height of 160.4 millimeters and a width of 249.2 millimeters, so we are facing one of the lightest tablets among those of a similar size. Internally we find that the base variant features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage for data while variant more powerful brings the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage internal.

Both variants of the tablet share the inclusion of six speakers, four microphones, a USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port, an 8,300 mAh battery, configuration dual rear camera with 13-megapixel sensor and 8-megapixel sensor capable of recording 4K videos, in addition to a 16-megapixel front-facing camera capable of recording 1080p videos.

The MatePad Pro 11 variant with a Snapdragon 870 processor supports Bluetooth 5.1, 40-watt fast charging, includes a charger that operates at 22.5 watts, and some models may include optional support for 4G networks. The variant with the Snapdragon 888 processor brings Bluetooth 5.2, support for fast charging at 66 watts and a 40-watt charger.

We find HarmonyOS 3.0 as the operating system, a detail that may cause disbelief for some due to the possible lack of apps, but Huawei says that there are more than 200,000 apps in their store catalog in total. But apart from the quantity, the most important thing is whether there are the most popular applications. The base price of the new MatePad Pro 11 is 3,300 yuan, which would be about $490.
