Elon Musk filed a counterclaim against Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) on Friday, escalating his legal battle with the social network for his attempt to ditch a $44 billion buyout.

The lawsuit is said to have been filed confidentially and the 164-page document is not available to the public, but a remastered version may soon be made public under court rules.

Musk’s lawsuit was filed hours after a court hearing scheduled for a five-day hearing on October 17, after Musk rejected the deal to buy Twitter Inc.

Also on Friday, Musk was sued by a Twitter shareholder, who asked the court to close the billionaire’s deal and admit that he had violated his powers of attorney against Twitter’s shareholders and pay compensation for the losses he caused.

As reported by Ukrinform, Twitter Inc. On Tuesday, July 12, billionaire filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk to force him to complete the previously signed deal to buy the social network for $44 billion. The court must decide whether Musk has sufficient arguments that the social network violated the terms of the agreement so he can reject it.

Last week, Delaware Chancery Court (USA) Twitter Inc. decided in his favour. The hearing on the expedited trial will last five days in October.
