Microsoft today released Edge version 104.0.1293.47 for the stable channel. The most notable new addition to this version is the “Advanced Security Mode”. This feature was previously known as the Super Duper Secure mode, and it came in two variants: Balanced and Strict. But Microsoft has also added a new Basic option that the company recommends for most users. Even in the beta version the new core option was missing.

What is advanced security mode?

This will run your unfamiliar sites without just-in-time (JIT) compilation for added protection. Running without JIT reduces the attack surface and makes it harder for malicious sites to exploit.

Additional protection includes Windows operating system mitigations such as Hardware Enforced Stack Protection, Arbitrary Code Protection (ACG), and Control Flow Protection (CFG).

With this setting, Microsoft Edge will apply additional protection to less visited sites. This feature preserves the user experience for the most popular websites. • On first launch I import Chrome data without Chrome. This feature allows the user to enter their Chrome credentials by signing into their Google Account the first time they launch Microsoft Edge. This feature can be disabled by disabling the First Run Experience setting via policy. HideFirstRunExperience or by setting Auto Import First Run value “DisabledAuto Import “.
