The Mercedes F200 was never mass-produced and therefore not even launched. However, a German company decided to remove it from the paper and produced some units that, as you might imagine, have become luxury collectibles. This car was developed in 1996and despite all the time on his back, he’s still impressive.

Externally, it has a Mercedes F200 a clearly futuristic line, especially considering that it was born 26 years ago, although it retains the classic essence of the Mercedes range of the time, something that can be clearly seen in many details such as the headlights and the front grille. However, when we look inside the car, we discover a “completely different world”.

The first thing that catches your eye is the driving position, and that completely disappears the steering wheel and gear lever. Instead we have fork joystick used as a complete control system, and when I say total, I mean it also controls acceleration and braking, because as you can see in the picture, we don’t even have pedals. Impressive, if inconvenient, impractical and dare I say dangerous, as the precision and response this steering system offers is nowhere near what we get from a traditional steering wheel.

On the dashboard, we have a set of buttons that includes the automatic transmission system and other important elements such as power windows, emergency lights and a multimedia system. It won’t go unnoticed either digital interface, exterior cameras that completely eliminate the need for rear-view mirrors and the ability to use CDs, DVDs and display information from our phone. What can I say, ignoring the disastrous idea of changing the steering wheel to a joystick, it is clear that the Mercedes F200 was ahead of its time in everything else.

Right below these lines, I leave you a video so that you can see the Mercedes F200 in more detail. If I were the happy owner of this car It’s pretty clear to me that I would consider the location of the steering wheel and the set of pedals. I know it could make it worse, but the driving experience would be less artificial and complicated. For example, you have a video where the discomfort while driving a car is clearly visible.
