According to research by Epson, students in the MEA (Middle East) region, which includes Turkey, spend almost half of their school time using digital technologies. Digitization in schools has a positive effect on learning by up to 75 percent. Projectors, tablets and printers enrich the learning experience by 56 percent
According to a survey by Japan-based Middle East tech giant Epson, students spend 44 percent of the day on technology in schools. Digitization in schools has a positive impact of 75% on learning, while projectors, tablets and printers enrich the learning experience by 56%.
Schools have an average of 5 printers
The results of Epson’s survey of 1,400 people, including IT managers and decision-makers from Turkey, provided interesting data on the use of technology in education. Accordingly, there are an average of 5 printers in the fleet of primary and secondary schools in the Middle East.
They learn with technology
Students spend about 44 percent of their school time using digital technology. Nearly three-quarters of respondents agree that poor technology can hinder classroom design and lecturing.
Their costs have increased
When it comes to costs, 82 percent of respondents say the cost of printing supplies has increased compared to 2021. Only 30 percent of schools say more printing technologies are being used. But this is still higher than in any other region. In addition, 76 percent expect students to use higher technology than before.
Digital content is also on the rise
Nearly three-quarters of schools believe that teachers should play an important role in determining the best technology for teaching, and another three-quarters report that digital content is increasing in the classroom.
The learning experience is enriched
Digitization and the use of digital technology are believed to have a major impact (75 percent) on effective learning. Here projectors have 75 percent, tablets/personal devices 68 percent. This not only gives students more access to learning materials (60 percent), but also enriches the overall learning experience (56 percent).
Key players are teachers
With increasing digitization, nearly three quarters of educators recognize the importance of educating students about choosing the right and sustainable technology. Reducing CO2 emissions is also seen as part of the effort to improve efficiency (65 percent). 72 percent of schools agree that technology is a tool that should be seamlessly integrated into mainstream education. However, teacher education on the use of technology remains a challenge as only a quarter of schools recognize that teachers are well trained in the use of technology so that they can play a key role in digital transformation.
