Kobo has just announced the launch of a new Kobo Clara 2E, an electronic book reader made of 85% recycled plastic, waterproof and with a difficult mission to take market share from Amazon’s Kindle. From today it can be reserved in the official store for 149.99 euros.
The Kobo Clara 2E It retains the excellent design we’ve already seen with the Clara HD and a 6-inch diagonal panel with E Ink Carta 1200 anti-reflective technology, until now reserved for more expensive devices like the Kobo Libra. This also includes ComfortLightPROtechnology capable of adjusting the brightness and color temperature so that reading is comfortable even in low light or complete darkness.
Inside, 16 GB of storage guarantees more than enough space books you can read in several lifetimes and its battery guarantees a range of several weeks. With dimensions of 112.05 x 159.02 x 8.66 mm and a weight of 171 grams, it is an ideal device both for traveling and for reading at home.
Kobo implemented the connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/b/g/n (dual band), wireless technology Bluetooth Y USB-C. Plus, it’s IPX8 certified, so it’s resistant to splashes, dust, rain, even accidental dips in the pool. As usual with the brand, the device stands out the freedom it offers when working with any format, including EPUB, MOBI, PDF, CBZ or CBR and many more.
The company highlights the efforts made to produce a sustainable and ecological product that uses 85% recycled plastic (10% of which comes from marine waste). In this sense, it far surpasses the latest iteration of the Kindle Paperwhite, which uses 60% recycled material in its production.
Kobo Clara 2E will reach the usual distribution network from September 22 according to €149.99. The official case is also available at €29.99.
