Microsoft has announced the launch of its new Xbox Elite Series 2 wireless controller (Core in White). It is prettier than its predecessor, it is also cheaper, although less complete, no longer includes interchangeable paddles, joysticks, a D-pad, or a black controller case. In return, the new controller can be customized using a complete set of components.

That’s what Microsoft says “They listened to gamers loud and clear and continued to refine the Elite Series 2 controllers to make them more reliable than ever, with sophisticated components that are built to last.”. The Elite series has certainly been good since the original was released.

In this way, the Elite Series 2 offers essential components with good control, adjustable cocking joysticks, wrapped textured grip and highly responsive triggers with a shorter lock. The controller has a range of up to 40 hours with a rechargeable battery.

The price reduction for the Elite Series 2 in black (179.99 euros) is due to the limitation of customization of joysticks, cross heads and cams, in addition to the fact that it does not include a carrying case. Microsoft makes up for this by separately offering what it calls a “Complete set of parts” which includes an interchangeable cross head (standard), interchangeable joysticks (2 classic, 1 tall, 1 dome) and sticks (medium and mini). Also included is a carrying case, charging base and USB-C cable.

Additionally, starting this holiday season, the new controller will be included in the Xbox Design Lab to add more customization with custom colors and patterns.

Availability and price

The new Xbox Elite Series 2 Wireless Controller – Core (White) is priced at €129.99, while the Complete Component Pack costs €59.99. Both can be reserved in the Microsoft Store and will be available from September 21, 2022. Those who like the black finish can purchase the well-known controller, more complete than the basic white one, for 179.99 euros.
