The Ariane 5 launch vehicle of the French company Arianespace has delivered the Eutelsat satellite communications operator’s largest satellite into geopass orbit.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Space.com.
The rocket was launched from the cosmodrome in French Guiana at 00:45 Kyiv time on Thursday, September 8th. Just 29 minutes later, the Eutelsat Konnect VHTS communications satellite was delivered to the planned orbit.
It is stated that the weight of the spacecraft is 7 tons and its length is approximately 8.8 meters.
“With an instantaneous speed of 500 gigabits per second, Eutelsat Konnect VHTS will provide high-speed Internet access throughout Europe, especially in isolated areas with low coverage,” said an Arianespace representative.
The satellite is expected to remain in space for at least 15 more years.
For the 50.5-metre-long Ariane 5 launch vehicle, this is already the second launch this year and the third for Arianespace overall.
As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday (September 6th), Chinese authorities launched the Kuizhou-1A launch vehicle with two new Chinese experimental satellites on board.
