The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported on Monday, September 12 that the asteroid 2008 RW will pass near Earth.
This was reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
The diameter of the space rock is about 94 meters, according to NASA. It will come as close as possible to Earth at a distance of 6.7 million kilometers on Monday.

2008 RW was first discovered on September 8, 2008. The space stone belongs to the Apollo group, the largest group of near-Earth asteroids.
This asteroid is not considered “potentially dangerous”, since its length does not exceed 150 meters, but its maximum distance from planet Earth will be less than 7.5 million kilometers. To be defined as “potentially dangerous” it must meet both parameters.
As Ukrinform reports, at the end of September, NASA will test its new system to protect the planet from a possible collision with an asteroid.
