The need to “brighten up” a personal car so that it survives without serious injections until the market stabilizes or enough money is raised for replacement has become a pressing issue for many car owners today. We need not just “candle filters”, but a global diagnosis of anything and everything, with the replacement of every “controversial” element. Of course, the oil in an automatic transmission also falls into this list.
Many car manufacturers proudly stated that the lubricant was filled for the entire life of the device: they say that we did not invent perpetual motion machines, but we made an eternal box. Oh well. As a result, the device operates many times less than it should, and sometimes starts to annoy the driver with jerks and ugly shifting. The oil in the automatic transmission should of course be changed regularly, at least every 75,000 km. But its replacement was always postponed due to the high price: the operation itself is not so complicated if the “consumables” are expensive. And the manual says it’s not necessary…
In short, it’s time to switch lubricants, we start looking for offers and are faced with a dilemma: one service sets a price twice as high as the other. Yes, they wind it up, they want to wrap it around it! Unfortunately, in this case, the “cheaper” master decided to wrap up: he will definitely tell you that you do not need so much oil, and will offer a “high-quality analogue” – the same, only better and different . Then he proudly unscrews the drain plug, drains the oil and then pours new oil through the dipstick. Checkmate: Together you laugh at those who broke the triple price tag for such work.
However, changing the oil in the “machine” looks very different. First, the gearbox “loves” only the ATF prescribed by the factory, and the use of another will only lead to incorrect operation of the unit and its self-destruction. And the original oil is expensive, and you need a lot of it, but there’s nothing you can do about it.
In addition, to drain the waste, you have to remove the crankcase and replace the filter – that’s the news, it turns out that the gearbox also has a filter – then rinse all visible areas, then top up the oil, leave the box work, then connect a special unit that allows you to completely change the oil in the automatic transmission. Can something like this be cheap? Of course not.
When trying to save money, keep in mind a simple truth: correcting your mistakes is always more expensive. Today is not the time when you can afford your experiments, experiments and your own “invention of the bicycle”. In addition, the crisis in the spare parts market, frankly, does not even give you the right to make a mistake. Therefore trust, but verify, and do not look where there is none.
