Turkish defense company AXLETECH and automobile manufacturer Otokar introduced the Akrep II electric armored combat vehicle. The developers said that they are conducting full-scale tests of the armored vehicle and preparing it for mass production.
The head of AXLETECH stated that Akrep II is Turkey’s first step in the field of electric, hybrid and autonomous military vehicle technologies.
The head of the company noted that the new armored vehicle is designed in two versions: an all-electric version and a diesel engine.
“The operating time of the electric armored vehicle, which has battery slots at both the front and the rear, can be increased with additional batteries according to customer requests. The range of the electric vehicle in the basic configuration is approximately 250 km. And that’s not the limit, it can be expanded with the help of new energy-intensive batteries.”Otokar Chairman Serdar Gergyuch said.
The company also said it takes about three hours to fully charge the batteries. The car has a 4×4 wheel formula and, optionally, to increase maneuverability, customers can order a two-wheel drive version.
