Palace business is moving slowly, and so is WhatsApp news. Thirteen years after its launch, the app is in preparation search by date, to jump to the messages of the day you specify. The novelty has been noticed by WaBetaInfo, but is not yet active for users.

WhatsApp has recently improved its search via filters, but it’s still pretty basic. Finding a message can be quite difficult if you don’t remember a particular phrase, even if you know the exact day. This will be much easier with the new date search, similar to what Telegram has already offered.

While the app has recently improved its search with filters to easily find unread messages containing photos, videos, links, GIFs, audios or documents, things are getting harder and harder to find.

Now, when it comes to going back in time, there is no search by date in WhatsApp, but it has been working on it for at least two years. After a long silence, we learned through WaBetaInfo that the engineers are back to work. search by datewill appear as a calendar icon when searching. We can select a specific day by pressing the button. It is an app very similar to how search by date works in Telegram.

In this way jump to a specific date in conversation, something that has hitherto not been possible without a good dose of horizontal scrolling. If you wanted to jump to what you said today in 2013, it would take you a long time to scroll up like crazy.

WaBetaInfo found this hidden innovation in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 22.19.0.73. It can be predicted that it will reach Android and other platforms as well.. Unfortunately we don’t know if it will reach users this time or if it will be paused for another two years. Have to wait.
