Intel today announced a major change in its processor lines, especially those that play in the entry lines. To be more specific, the chip giant decided to create a line An Intel processor that will replace Intel Pentium and Intel Celeron in portable products from 2023.
The company’s intention is to focus more efforts on Intel Core, Intel Evo and Intel vPro. On the other hand, it simplifies its broad product offering a bit by commercially combining two lines that basically played in similar leagues. Gone are the years when the Pentium line was a great benchmark for Intel (at least in terms of consumption), with the Pentii I, II, III and IV all part of computing history with their successes and failures.
The company explains this about the Intel processor will serve as a brand name for several processor families and make it easier for consumers to buy. On the other hand, the chip giant is determined to continue to offer the same benefits in every segment and that the recently announced replacement will not mean changes to its product offering or its roadmap.
Josh Newman, vice president and acting general manager of mobile client platforms, had this to say about the creation of Intel’s processor line: “Whether for work or play, the importance of the PC has become more apparent as the breakneck pace of technological development continues to shape the world. Intel is committed to driving innovation for the benefit of users, and our entry-level processor families have helped raise the bar for computing at every price point. The new Intel Processor brand will simplify our offering so users can focus on choosing the right processor for their needs.“.
For users, this should turn into a phase-out of Pentium and Celeron from 2023 to make way for the Intel processor that will become a line of entry-level processors aimed at laptops. Of course, perhaps the new name is too generic for some, especially since all Intel processors are Intel processors.
