Apple on Wednesday confirmed that the Russian social network VKontakte has been removed from its app store (App Store) following new British sanctions against organizations and individuals in retaliation for annexation referendums held by Moscow in four regions of Ukraine.
Users of VKontakte (VK), a Russian platform similar to Facebook, can continue to use the app if they already have it on their iPhone, but cannot download or update it.
“There may be difficulties with notifications and payments,” the network said on Tuesday, adding that it has recently improved the app to run for a long time without updates.
