The Chinese COMAC C919 aircraft passed all tests and received certification. For China, it is important for the car to prove itself, and most importantly, foreign contracts.
It is known that 815 new aircraft have already been ordered by 28 airlines, but they are all from China. Against this background, the agreement of Chinese COMAC with Nigerian air carrier Nigeria Air may become fundamental – in 2023 the company will launch with a fleet of three Boeing 737-800s, but plans to increase the number of aircraft.
The carrier plans to increase its fleet to 30 airbuses by 2025. Initially, it was supposed to be the same Boeing and Airbus, but now Nigerian experts do not exclude the purchase of new Chinese C919s. It is not yet known about the actual deal, but COMAC may offer Nigerian Airlines new aircraft on “extremely favorable terms”.
Nigerian authorities have been negotiating with COMAC for aircraft charter since 2017, it was assumed that the aircraft would be offered to airlines at Kaduna Airport on preferential terms – then the task was to develop air transport links from the state of the same name. But then the C919 made its maiden flight and was far from mass production.
