It was today one of the most important days of the year for Google, and that we attended the presentation of this Google Pixel 7 Pro, the Google Pixel 7, the expected Pixel Watch and also the expected Pixel Tablet, although the latter two devices, at least for now, will not arrive in Spain. And while I admit that the smartwatches are the most attractive to me, there is no doubt that the big stars of the day are the search engine company’s two smartphones.

And yes, at least at first glance, the Pixel 7 left a good taste in our mouths, proving to be a truly balanced high-end variant and with some strengths that deserve to be highlighted (such as artificial intelligence or the focus on security and privacy), this Google Pixel 7 Pro has gone a few steps and got the Pro surnamethus establishing itself as one of the most interesting options among the top of the range of different manufacturers that make up the high line.

However, the similarities that we find between the Google Pixel 7 Pro and its “little brother” are quite enough, so there may be users who do not see the leap so clearly. However, and in my opinion (which will be developed based on the data), the screen, RAM and storage and above all the photo function make an undeniable difference.

Google Pixel 7 Pro: technical specifications

As I already indicated, there are several differences between the two smartphones that Google presents today, and one of them, also quite important, is the screen. In this case we find the panel OLED LTPO always on 6.7 inches (170 mm diagonal) with QHD+ resolution (1440 x 3120 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9), with a density of 512 dpi and a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. Its brightness can reach 1,000 nits in HDR mode and scale up to 1,500 nits at the maximum setting. He uses Gorilla Glass Victus to protect himself.

When we start analyzing the internals of the Google Pixel 7 Pro, as soon as we start, we find one of the first common points between the two models, the SoC. The Pixel 7 Pro is also built on the Google Tensor G2, the development of an integrated system that focuses on the key functions of AI-related processes without neglecting performance. And as I will develop further, this time this feature is combined with a substantial advance in security, which is something that always deserves to be highlighted. The SoC of this Google Pixel 7 Pro is complemented by a generous 12 GB LPDDR5 RAMand storage capacities 128, 256 and 512 GB UFS 3.1.

Since we are talking about a smartphone, it is important to consider its connectivity options, and in this regard, and how could it be otherwise, we are talking about a phone 5G mmWave and Sub 6GHz, for global mobile coverage for this generation. We will have too Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2NFC, Google Cast (evolution of Miracast technology) and location.

Its only physical connector is a USB-C port, data, audio (with compatible devices) and charging your battery, 5000 milliamps. At the moment, we see another interesting similarity between this Google Pixel 7 Pro and the Pixel 7, that in both cases, according to data estimated by Google, this battery allows use between 24 hours, with average use, respectively 72 hours, with extreme battery saving mode. And we also find fast charging, in this 23-watt model, induction charging and a reverse charging function.

Now, if there is a point where the Google Pixel 7 Pro gives its chest, it is undoubtedly the one in the photo. not for nothing Google boasts that it has the best camera on the smartphone market today, something that includes both the optical elements that make up the physical part of the camera and the software responsible for image processing, which relies more and more and with better results on AI. And it is because, for example, Google sticks out a chest with a zoom that supports the SoC directly.

On the physical level, The main camera of the Google Pixel 7 Pro has three elements (one more than the Pixel 7): 50-megapixel Quad Bayer Octa PD wide-angle f/1.85 snapper that takes over as the main lens, which is complemented by a (large) 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide lens and a 48-megapixel f/ 3.5 Quad Bayer PD telephoto lens (remember that telephoto lenses always tend to be weaker than wide angle for obvious reasons) which is involved in that hardware and software equation responsible for zoom. The camera also uses multiple sensors to further enhance the capture. The front camera in the hole at the top of the screen is based on a wide-angle 10.8 megapixel f / 2.2.

The key point where Google Pixel 7 Pro and Google Pixel 7 agree is undoubtedly security from a holistic approach. Its physical strength is evidenced by the use of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front and back as well as on its certificate IP68to implement security directly from the SoC, with the Titan M2 security chip responsible for protecting the data that needs to be secured and for guaranteeing the reliability of the VPN connection that will soon be included among the free Google One services for its users.

So after this first check of its specifications, this Google Pixel 7 Pro is the most promising, especially (At least in my opinion) regarding its photographic functions. At this point, it’s interesting to recall that Apple made one of its big marketing moves by focusing (pun intended) iPhone promotional campaigns on its photography features. It is evident that Google dances to its own rhythm, but that it also looks sideways at those from Cupertino and draws very valuable conclusions from it.

Google Pixel 7 Pro: how, where and when

I will start with the good news that also happened with the Pixel 7, and that this Google Pixel 7 Pro will arrive in Spain on the day of its launch, we will not have to wait. It’s currently in pre-purchase mode, but its arrival is inexorably close, in the case of the 128 gigabyte model, as its delivery is estimated at the end of next week, between Thursday the 13th and Friday the 14th. The less good news is that the 256 gigabyte model appears to be sold out, although you can get on the waiting list. And the bad part is that, at least for now, it doesn’t look like the 512 gigabyte model will hit our market.
