The KillNet group at the dictates of Putin’s ruble attacked the websites of the most important airports in the United States. These are massive denial of service (DDoS) attacks that leave portals unavailable due to the drain on computing resources they entail.
The war in Ukraine continues and there is no sign of a solution. It seems that until Putin wills or allows him to, the international community will accept the energy frenzy and the Ukrainians will be able to repel the aggressor (which they seem to be doing). Or to some madman (of those who abound this humanity so little man) to push the apocalypse button.
Even then we said that in the wars of the 21st century they are not only fought on the ground, and cyberspace is another important area. Here, Russia has offensive and defensive elements that are listed among the planetary elite. Some are directly part of their cyber army and others are contract workers.
This is the case with KillNet. The pro-Russian group yesterday launched a series of domains on its Telegram channel where members and volunteers meet to achieve new goals. It touched airports such as Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International and Los Angeles International, which are among the most important air traffic hubs in the country. The websites of both were inaccessible and others such as Chicago, Orlando, Denver or Phoenix are returning connection errors.

These errors are typical of DDoS, which is a relatively easy type of attack on an organization if you have enough manpower, because they are based on generate fake requests and targeted spam with a target you will exhaust your resources and make them unavailable to legitimate users.
In this case, DDoS attacks do not affect flights, but still have an adverse impact on a key economic sector and threaten to interrupt or delay related services. KillNet has previously targeted other countries that have provided support to Ukraine, such as Romania and Italy, while its Legion “subgroup” has targeted key Norwegian and Lithuanian entities for similar reasons.
As the war in Ukraine appears to be entering a new phase, Russian hackers will intensify its cyber attacks against key organizations in the Western world.
