US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) experts conducted their own research based on what they shared recommendations for the selection of lithium-ion batteries used in smartphones, home appliances, and other devices. This is reported by the TechSpot portal.
First of all, users are asked not to save when choosing a battery. The FBI warns you not to be wary of heavily discounted devices. In addition, third-party manufacturers, whose batteries cost much less than the originals, may produce counterfeit batteries that can overheat, wear out quickly, damage electrical equipment, or cause a fire.
The FBI urged users to pay attention to how batteries are packaged and whether there are any errors or typos on the labels. Also, original batteries must be untagged and have official batch numbers from the manufacturer.
Experts recommend purchasing batteries from trusted stores, where devices have been extensively tested. Buying batteries from unreliable or third-party suppliers can be risky.
