The Crimean Transport Department decided to massively and regularly transport heavy trucks between the peninsula and mainland Russia through the territory of the Kherson, Zaporozhye and Donetsk regions. This follows from the department’s next assignment.
“The movement of the following cargoes has been temporarily restricted via the ferry: scrap metal, large metal products, coriander in bags, tomato paste in barrels,” the Crimean transport ministry said in a statement. Alternatively, carriers are invited to deliver these goods along the Crimean-Melitopol-Mariupol-Taganrog route.
Recall that at the moment only cars can pass through the Crimean Bridge. Trucks and buses must use the ferry across the Kerch Strait. Freight transport is collected in improvised sumps before going out. For example, one of them was organized on the territory of the former airport in Kerch. But apparently the capacity of the ferry crossing, which already has four car transporters, is not enough to “solve” the queues of waiting trucks.
This may explain the unequivocal proposal to truck drivers to use the ‘northern bypass of the Sea of Azov’. Truck caravans are known to be shaped to drive past them. Apparently to facilitate the passage of trucks through numerous checkpoints on the roads of the regions mentioned. In addition, it is not yet clear what difficulties Russian truck drivers may face on this new route, in addition to broken roads. After all, it is not even known how things are going there with the possibility of refueling numerous (as expected) trucks. Not to mention the availability of safe places for their sludge and rest for drivers.
