The “Memory Saver” will be placed on a page in the browser and is similar to the feature introduced in Microsoft Edge, although the Redmond giant’s browser only shows the abstract value of saving resources. In turn, Chrome will show exactly how much RAM is reallocated from each sleep card to more important tasks.

The future memory saving feature will have a dedicated button in the Onmibar address bar. By clicking on it a small window will appear with information about the current memory saving and a link to the performance settings. This should make it easier to detect cards that use a lot of resources, and the real capabilities of the built-in memory saver remain in the process.

Chrome’s memory saving feature has already been introduced in the canary branch of the browser and can be enabled via the chrome://flagsas it is currently under development (Work in progress/WIP). Although Microsoft chose to use Chromium as the basis of its Edge browser, the reality is that the company did not settle for creating another clone and added a handful of its own features that give it value compared to its rival from Google.
