The State Special Communications and Information Protection Service once again reminded how to protect smartphones and computer equipment from viruses.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the State Special Communications Service.
“Using pirated software or software from unverified sources may result in infection of your device and theft of personal data and funds,” the message says.
To protect your devices from viruses, download programs and applications only from the official websites of developers and official software stores.
To avoid infecting the device, you should only use licensed versions or find free programs with similar functionality from other trusted developers.
Device users should check the files with an antivirus before starting. Files with extensions: .exe, .iso, .bin, .ini, .dll, .com, .sys, .bat, .js, .apk can be potentially dangerous.
Smartphone apps should only be downloaded from official stores (Play Market, App Gallery, App Store and Google Play).
Device users should pay attention to what permissions the app needs during installation.
The State Special Communications Service reminded that not all applications need access to geolocation or personal information for normal operation.
You should also read the reviews of users who have downloaded the app before before downloading the apps. Before downloading, you should definitely check the information about the developer and owner of the application.
The State Intelligence Service advises you to avoid downloads from unknown sources.
To protect against viruses, gadget users should activate the ban on installing applications and automatic downloads of files from unverified sources. And to protect the browser from viruses, you should enable the “ask for file storage every time before downloading” function.
“So if you accidentally click on a malicious link, the download will not start automatically and will require your approval,” the State Intelligence Service said.
As reported by Ukrinform, from the beginning of October from February 24, cyber experts of the National Police warned about 400 cyber attacks against government agencies and the private sector.
