Immediately after the start of the war, the domestic cyber community launched an active counterattack on the cyber front, forcing the enemy to spend significant resources on its defense.
This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine in Telegram, quoting the head of the Department of Cybersecurity, Ilya Vityuk.
“The security service has detected and neutralized more than 3,500 cyberattacks this year. If it weren’t for our business, we’d be talking about broken traffic lights, incomplete communications, power outages, lost state secrets, scientific advances, and massively stolen personal data… But all critical systems are functioning normally, and our society is a victorious society,” said Vityuk.
He also said that ordinary Ukrainians and volunteers from the IT industry helped special services in this fight.
“Ukraine’s counter-attack in the cyber space started on February 24. Just one day ago, our Ministry repelled the strong cyber-attacks launched by Russia to carry out a “lightning attack” in every area before the invasion. We dealt with them in the morning and responded in the evening. , forced the enemy to focus on the defense and realize that the period of impunity has passed forever. “Our counterattack is still in full swing,” Vityuk said.
He stressed that the SBU has been proactive and has extensive experience in successfully tackling the cyber front. Thanks to this, it is possible not only to prevent the disruption of Ukraine’s information and cyberspace, but also to protect critical infrastructure, life support systems, banks, etc.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russian hackers continue to attack the websites of Ukrainian authorities and send dangerous letters to residents of the country with the aim of stealing personal data. But Ukraine successfully repelled all enemy cyberattacks.
