In July of this year, it was reported that Microsoft planned to launch new versions of Windows every three years. It is assumed that the new version of the operating system released in 2024 as Windows 12 or under another name and an image showing what its interface might be was recently released by the company.

An image that was supposed to be the new Windows was briefly released by Microsoft during the event. Ignite 2022 while the company introduced Surface Studio 2+. While you can see some similarities with Windows 11, the new Windows image shows some interesting differences.

The first of these is the updated taskbar, which is now floating and rounded corners. The icon for displaying the widget bar has been removed and you can see weather widget in the upper left corner of the screen. Another detail that draws attention is the notification area, which has been moved to top right:

Another detail that can be seen in the image released by Microsoft is that the search icon has been removed from the taskbar and in its place we see floating search box top center screen. It is worth remembering that some members of the Windows Insider Program have already tested something similar in some builds of Windows 11.

According to Zach Bowden from the site Windows CenterThe new interface shown in the image could be a real representation of what Microsoft is planning for a future new version of Windows. “Microsoft is still in the prototyping phase next valley*, but my sources tell me that the interface briefly shown at the Ignite event reflects the development goals that Microsoft hopes to achieve in the next version of Windows.”Bowden said.

Bowden also revealed that Microsoft is testing various versions of this new Windows interface. “I was told that this proposed design prototype aims to create an interface that better optimized for touch without compromising mouse and keyboard users. This is something that Microsoft wants to scale across devices such as desktops, laptops and tablets, including those with foldable screens.”Bowden said.

Microsoft has yet to officially confirm the existence of a new version of Windows, which may or may not be called Windows 12, or when it will be released.
