According to the latest rumors, Apple is working on new Mac computers, including the next-generation Mac mini equipped with the M2 chip. 9to5mac has collected everything known about the new representative of miniature computers

Mac mini is a compact desktop computer that comes without any additional devices. It can be connected to any keyboard, mouse and display. The Mac mini has become extremely popular for use in server systems due to its form factor and is also a good option for frequent movers.

According to sources, Apple is working on at least two new versions of this computer. One of them, codenamed J473, will be based on the M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU.

9to5Mac also learned from sources that Apple plans to release a more powerful version of the Mac mini. Codenamed J474, this Mac mini will be equipped with a faster M2 Pro chip, an as-yet-unannounced variant of the M2 with a 12-core processor. This should be the same chip that will reportedly power the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Earlier, blogger Jon Prosser reported that Apple will adopt an even more compact design for this more powerful Mac mini model. However, it is unknown whether this new design will be used in the entry-level M2 model. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also confirmed rumors that new Mac minis with M2 and M2 Pro chips are in the works.
