Google raises prices YouTube Premiuma paid subscription to a well-known video platform that, among other advantages, stands out by removing advertising from its content.
The increase in the prices of YouTube Premium subscriptions, which so far only affects some countries, should not be too surprising when we see the latest maneuvers of the video platform, especially considering those secret experiments that have left the door for 4K and higher resolutions to be available only to those who they went through the checkout or in other words who joined the paid subscription.
YouTube recently ended an experiment with 4K exclusive to paying users, perhaps in part because only those who actually watch videos on a high-end TV or computer with an accompanying monitor can use it. However, the platform decided to raise prices in the following countries:
- In the United States, the family plan increased from $17.99 to $22.99.
- In Canada, the family plan went from $17.99 to $22.99 Canadian (it’s a different currency, in case the name confused anyone).
- In the UK, the family plan has increased from £17.99 to £19.99.
- In Argentina, the individual tariff increased from 119 to 389 pesos, while the family tariff increased from 179 to 699 pesos.
- In Turkey, the individual plan increased from 16.99 to 29.99 lira.
- In Japan, the family tariff increased from ¥1,780 to ¥2,280.

In Spain, the prices remain the same for now, costing 11.99 euros for an individual plan and 17.99 euros for a family plan. Of course, looking at the countries in which they have risen, it should not be surprising that sooner or later the same will happen in our country, even though the current prices of YouTube Premium are not exactly the most attractive compared to other services such as Netflix. In the event that the Company decides to increase prices, users will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance.
