California-American company Floppydisk.com continues to make money from 3.5-inch floppy disks. This was reported by the South China Morning Post.
According to SCMP, the small company does not independently produce legacy media, but buys unused and used floppy disks in American states.
It is noted that the floppy labels were later checked and restored. After the completion of these processes, the carriers are put up for sale.
Floppydisk.com assured that the floppy disks are still in demand by companies in the US. According to them, carriers are used by companies with machine tools, sewing machines and even planes.
The company said it sells about 500 floppy disks a day. Among the reasons for the popularity of legacy media: 3.5-inch floppy disks are more difficult to break, and there is no remote access to them, even through drives inside computer equipment.
