Apple plans to release iPad Pro with OLED screen in 2024, replacing the mini-LEDs and LED technology found in the brand’s current product line. Information about this was revealed by Mark Gurman in his Power On column, published on Bloomberg.
According to Gurman, Both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch versions of the iPad Pro OLED will use very high quality displays.comparable to the iPhone 14 Pro, which was recently voted the best screen cell phone in the world.
Should you buy the iPhone 14?
We tested the new Apple phone and recorded everything on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro line currently features mini LED displays.. They deliver extremely high levels of brightness and have thousands of illumination zones, greatly improving image contrast ratio over traditional LED displays. However, this technology cannot achieve the same level of contrast as OLED screens.
Another obvious drawback is dark scenes with light elements – for example, white text on a black background. This creates a “halo” effect around objects something that directly affects image quality.
The production of panels using mini-LED technology is also quite expensive., and Apple is holding back spending on the 2022 lineup, as we reported earlier this year. All of these factors are driving Apple’s move to high-end OLED displays like the iPhone 14 Pro. They offer better image quality, are cheaper, and tend to render HDR content with more fidelity.
An important detail is that Apple will presumably use hybrid OLED technology for the iPad Pro 2024. Each panel will be produced with two superimposed emissive layers (EML). As a result, these screens will produce twice as bright and can last up to four times longer. than a regular OLED screen, according to The Elec.
Samsung will be responsible for most of the production of these two-layer OLED displays. Some sources indicate that Apple has also asked LG to supply the rest of the production line to ensure a large inventory of the tablet. However, The production of materials is still in the testing phase and should enter the commercial production stage only at the beginning of 2024.
