In central Japan, a drone is being tested that could prevent fruit theft from orchards.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by NHK.
The trials are being run by a local agricultural cooperative in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, local farms, and a robot manufacturing company in the nearby city of Nagoya.
On Monday, under the pilot’s supervision, the drone automatically took off from the base station and flew a certain route over the garden for a few minutes before returning to the station.
This camera-equipped drone was originally invented to protect plants from wild animals and birds.
The drone’s developer said it will continue efforts to develop a system that can detect garden intruders and automatically alert a security company.
As reported by Ukrinform, a warning system using drones has been introduced in the city of Sendai, in northern Japan’s Miyagi Prefecture, to warn beachgoers of the threat of a tsunami.
