Samsung has announced the global launch of a new mode for its smartphones. Maintenance Mode was announced in the summer of this year, tests were carried out on Samsung Galaxy S21 models in South Korea in July, and in September the function started working on the company’s smartphones in China. And now the service mode will appear on Samsung smartphones all over the world. It can be used when the device is sent to a service center for repair to protect the user’s personal data from unauthorized access.
In service mode, a separate account is created so that technicians can access basic functions but not device owner information. Before sending the smartphone for repair, you must select “Maintenance Mode” in the “Battery and device maintenance” menu in “Settings” and restart the device. After that, access to all personal information including photos, documents, messages and installed apps will be restricted.
A service center specialist using such an account will be able to download applications from the Galaxy Store if necessary, but after exiting the service mode, all installed applications and other data of the service account will be deleted from the smartphone. Source
