On Saturday, a Swiss rail company broke the record for the longest passenger train in the world, covering a 25-kilometer route through the Alps.

This AR was reported by Ukrinform reports.

It is reported that the Rhaetian Railway has launched a 1.9-kilometer train consisting of 100 wagons on the Albula – Bernina section of the Preda-Bergen route.

In 2008, this route was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It traverses 22 tunnels, some of which run through the mountains, and more than 48 bridges, including the arched Landwasser Viaduct.

The entire journey is said to take over an hour, and many onlookers lined the valley to watch the train go through the Alps.

Renato Fasciati, director of the Rhaetian Railway, said the record attempt was intended to highlight Swiss engineering achievements and celebrate the 175th anniversary of Swiss railways.
