Laser photonic chip delivers 1.84 petabits per second

University scientists in Denmark as well as Swedengeneral photonic chip (able to use light for processing), has achieved impressive results in laboratories. Baud rate reached 1.84 petabits per second with only one fiber optic cable. The speed is enough to surpass the entire average internet bandwidth in just one second. A little more about photonic chip technology

The operation is made possible by a laser beam that creates a rainbow of colors using equipment known as “frequency comb“. In this way, light arrays transmit data over fiber optic cables as we know them today, faster and with less power consumption.
