MBDA introduced its new anti-drone solution especially for ships and ports. The new system was presented at Euronaval 2022 in Paris. According to the official representative of the company Christophe Balducci, the new solution to combat drones is actually a naval version of the “Sky Warden”.
It combines the Mistral 3 air defense missile and the Akeron surface-to-surface missile. The complex uses a modular control system and can be equipped with a variety of sensors.

Balducci said the new solution is designed to protect warships, ports and other maritime facilities from the threat of unmanned systems.
“I think the problem of countering drones in general and the Navy in particular is a wide variety of threats.“, – said. “Sky Warden” from MBDA is a ground-based air defense system that neutralizes various aviation threats. The complex can work as an integrated component in air defense architecture or in autonomous configuration.
Currently, the system of the naval version of this air defense complex is under research and development. In June 2022, MBDA presented the 5th generation tactical guided missiles “AKERON”. The new missiles, called tactical, are designed for a wide range of uses, not just against armored targets like anti-tank missiles. Source
