The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s Advanced Camera for Research captured a picture of two spiral galaxies in the galactic triple Arp 248, also known as the “Wild Triplets.”

As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by the observatory.

The space object Arp 248 itself is located about 200 million light-years from our planet in the constellation Virgo.

The two large spiral galaxies visible in this image appear to be “connected” by a slight bridge. This long stream of stars and interstellar dust is known as the tidal tail. It was formed as a result of the mutual gravitational force of the two foreground galaxies.

It is stated that Arp 248 is included in the catalog of strange galaxies (Arp).

A peculiar galaxy (British peculiar – unusual) is a galaxy with features that do not give grounds for assigning it to separate morphological classes.

As Ukrinform reports, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the galactic nebula NGC 1999 in the constellation Orion, thanks to its Wide Field Camera 3 camera.
