The American space agency NASA, together with the Redwire company and the Military Medical University (State of Maryland), will send a 3D bioprinter to the International Space Station to print the meniscus of the knee joint.

As reported by Ukrinform, Engadget reported it.

It was noted that the printed meniscus would be sent to Earth for further research.

In the future, this may help treat meniscus injuries.

Redwire said 3D bioprinting of all organs in space is a long-term goal.

The printer will be sent to the ISS by a launch vehicle that will launch on November 6 from NASA’s Wallops Island Spaceport in Virginia.

This isn’t the first space 3D printer for NASA. Last year, the US space agency delivered a Redwire printer to the ISS to demonstrate printing of lunar soil. It is believed that this technology could help colonists on the Moon create a habitable environment without having to send large quantities of material from Earth.

As reported by Ukrinform, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced the restoration of spacewalks of astronauts from the International Space Station.
