Synology has officially announced the launch of its new router WRX560, which came to strengthen its range of solutions with Wi-Fi 6 and with the aim of providing fast and secure connections to households with more activity through the network. Thanks to the Synology Router Manager (SRM) operating system and compatible hardware, it is able to successfully fulfill its role even in the most demanding situations.
Synology’s WRX560 router features powerful internal components to ensure optimal performance for both home and network enthusiasts. Supports up to 150 devices connected simultaneously, inclusive Wi-Fi 6 and offers high speeds to achieve a combined throughput of 3,000 Mbps, which provides fast downloads and streaming without buffering. All this is possible because of you 1.4 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM.
Compared to other router models, the WRX560 stands out 2.5 GbE configurable WAN/LAN port that supports high performance devices or extremely fast internet plans. Besides his compatibility with the new 5.9 GHz spectrum provides interference-free bandwidth access for higher connection speeds or dedicated wireless backbone transmission.
The features built into the WRX560 take care of improving the wireless connection by providing a fast and stable connection. The device can share a network configuration with other Synology routers for unified high-speed coverage with a single Wi-Fi name. Another option it offers is to use it as an additional Wi-Fi point. On the other hand, the DS router mobile app provides a wide range of features, including router configuration, traffic monitoring, parental control, guest network creation, and network management.
Thanks to parental controls and Internet filtering options through the Safe Access packageThe WRX560 is responsible for ensuring home cyber security. Parents can limit the time spent on their children’s devices by setting Internet usage quotas or limiting access to certain times of the day for each device, including laptops, smartphones, tablets and game consoles.
Safe Access web filtering, which includes search results, is a highly recommended feature to prevent minors from accessing content that is not intended or potentially harmful to them. The same tool is in charge of providing information based on monitoring the activities of the little ones online, such as the daily amount of time spent on the Internet or if they have tried to visit inappropriate websites.
We cannot leave aside the operating system used by the WRX560 router, SRM, which excels in advanced network options for performing detailed configurations, detailed bandwidth control of network devices, segmentation of VLAN networks, and hosting of VPN servers.
SRM makes available VPN Plus, a tool for companies and users who work remotely It offers the ability to create secure connections to internal networks, connect multiple sites using IPsec tunnels to share resources across different networks, and access desktop software from anywhere using remote desktop capabilities.
Another function of SRM is traffic management for precise management and monitoring of generated network traffic users along with detailed application and device information. In addition, it allows specific configuration to be applied to the device and users can optimize their network according to their specific needs.
And finally here we are VLAN segmentation, a feature that allows users to create virtual LANs and define custom firewall rules, quality of service and access policies for each VLAN. Its use can be useful in contexts where it is necessary to isolate devices from the main network, such as IoT, although it can also be used to protect computers and NAS from possible intrusions.
The Synology WRX560 router is available in Australia, Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, and the United States from November 2, 2022, and will be available in Japan starting tomorrow. It has a reference price of 209 euros and can be purchased through the usual distributors.
In addition to products for the home environment, Synology wants to expand its commitment to large companies with solutions that focus on them during the next year 2023, and fully enter areas such as hybrid cloud.
