Amazon Photos is updating its Google Photos-style Android app

After shipments and their benefits or Prime Video, Photos of the Amazon it’s one of the most interesting Amazon Prime add-ons; a cloud-based photo storage service with some very powerful pros whose Android app is now improving accordingly.

Amazon Photos became especially relevant when Google Photos turned off the tap on free storage, although it’s been a few years since Amazon’s service stood out as an alternative to consider. Because of these two very strong pros I talked about:

  1. All Amazon Prime users have unlimited free storage images.
  2. Amazon Photos is, for all intents and purposes, very well done google photos clone.

As for its benefits, it’s worth pointing out the catch, which is that the unlimited free storage applies, as stated, only to images, even though it saves them in original quality; storage space to save video is only 5 GBso it greatly disturbs the balance of global supply.

Ergo, even if you don’t pay for image storage, you will end up paying for video because the amount available is scarce and today both formats are heavily used by almost all users equally. When it comes to the price of storage expansion, Amazon has a very good spin and costs the same as Google Photos.

Photos of the Amazon

For all these things, Amazon Photos is a solid alternative to Google Photos.

Where the similarity between the two services is most noticeable – to call it a euphemism: Amazon blatantly copies Google … which is not negative, although it must be emphasized – is in the interface and features of the service, but rather on the website of the application in mobile applications. Until recently: if last year came the redesign of the iOS app, now it’s Android’s turn.

With its latest update, Amazon Photos for Android it has improved many details in its operation, from search to filtering or navigation, it has made it easier to discover people, places, data and more, to organize preferences and other details that bring the experience closer to what is seen in Google Photos, but ultimately to improve the experience for your own users.

If you have an Amazon Prime subscription, Amazon Photos is a not inconsequential add-on to check out if you like the way Google Photos does it, but want to save a few euros (at least in the medium term).
