Mazda invests more than $10.5 billion in electrification of cars

Japanese company Mazda Motor Corp. It plans to spend $10.6 billion on the electrification of its cars.

The company said it is also considering investing in battery manufacturing.

Additionally, as Mazda raises its EV sales target from 25% to 40% of total sales by 2030, automakers around the world are spending billions of dollars to boost battery and EV production in the face of stricter environmental regulations.

Akira Koga, chief executive officer, told reporters that the 1.5 trillion yen ($10.6 billion) investment will be made with partners and used for research and development.

The automaker has agreed to partner with seven companies, including electrical component manufacturer Rohm Co, to jointly develop and manufacture electric drives.

As reported by Ukrinform, Californian company Drako Motors introduced the 2,000 horsepower Dragon electric SUV.
