The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced the successful completion of the 34th flight of the Ingenuity Mars helicopter.
Ukrinform reported that NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) reported this on Twitter.
JPL, “Ingenuity helicopter made the shortest flight to Mars in aviation history!” – announced.
It was recorded that the rotorcraft, which was carried out as part of NASA’s 34th flight on the Red Planet, reached a height of 5 meters in 18 seconds.
“On this flight, the possibility of a major software update was tested,” the lab said.
As Ukrinform reports, the Ingenuity helicopter was delivered to the Red Planet along with NASA’s Perseverance rover on February 18, 2021, after nearly seven months of flight. Ingenuity made its maiden flight on 19 April. The $85 million helicopter became the first plane to be launched from another planet.
