Cybersecurity experts Project Zero, a division of Google, have reported five dangerous vulnerabilities in popular smartphone models that were discovered over the summer but are still not patched. The relevant post was published on the official blog of the project.
It is known that one of the vulnerabilities could damage the core memory, leading to a complete failure of the smartphone. The second can open access to device memory addresses, and the other three allow you to make changes to the physical pages of virtual memory. This means that a potential attacker can have full control over any Android device.
As Project Zero experts point out, the ARM company’s security update was released in the summer of this year, but vendors such as Samsung, Oppo, and Xiaomi have yet to include it in their firmware, leaving users vulnerable to potential hacker attacks. Owners of these smartphones have no other way to protect their privacy.
