Netflix is ​​number one, which is not surprising because in raw numbers it is the one that produces the most content; You may find surprises in Disney+, but also in Apple TV+, they are no longer the oldest, but their figures are convincing; and then there’s HBO Max, which if it has something to give, it’s a shame.

This means that this information needs to be refined a bit, both with regard to the original publication – even they already qualify some data – and its interpretation on this side of the Atlantic, because things are not the same here and there.

For example, it’s well known that, in general, the catalogs of all platforms are larger in the United States than in Europe, so it’s more likely that there will be more 4K content there than here. Likewise, while in the United States said services can be negotiated separately, not here and much of Hulu’s content can be found on Disney+ (Disney owns Hulu) but also on HBO Max.

Another interesting tidbit in this regard is that yes, Netflix is ​​the one that has the most stuff in 4K, but… It’s the only one that charges you more for it. Although Netflix’s most expensive plan also expands connected devices, locking it down is a basic requirement to enjoy 4K, and when you add to that the average nature of its catalog, it seems like an excessive cost.

Finally, there is the usual caveat, which is that while there are differences when watching video in Full-HD or 4K, reducing quality to reduce weight The transfer of files that services send their content to in 4K means that seeing something in 4K in one or the other is not the same, let alone when this transfer is compared to playing local content.
