The source said one of the focuses of the redesign process, codenamed Highland, is to reduce the complexity and number of components inside the Model 3 by focusing on features that Tesla buyers value, including the display.
The changes could also affect the exterior of Musk’s electric car.
Sources add that production of the updated electric cars will begin at Tesla’s factory in Shanghai (China) and the company’s factory in Fremont, California (USA).
It’s currently unknown when exactly production will begin at the Fremont plant or how much Tesla can save from a Model 3 redesign.
As Ukrinform reports, Tesla is recalling more than 80,000 electric cars in China.
