ASUS ROG STRIX Gold Aura is the brand’s new line of power supply units (PSUs) adapted to the ATX 3.0 specification and therefore offers the 16-pin connector used by NVIDIA’s graphics models of the last two generations, including the RTX 4080, RTX 4090, RTX 3070 and RTX 3090.
ASUS ROG STRIX Gold Aura power supplies meeting the ATX 3.0 specification deliver performance efficiently and have better heat dissipation. Plus, they integrate with Aura Sync RGB for gamers looking for an even more immersive desktop lighting experience. It will be made available through the line 750, 850, 1000 and 1200 watt models.
Compared to the previous generation of power supplies, ROG STRIX includes a larger heatsink to reduce noise and temperatures, which should bring the new products a longer life thanks to the zero decibel function with workloads to medium power. The 135mm axial fan features dual ball bearings for longer use and larger blades for better airflow. At the certification level, they have 80 Plus Gold from other recent ASUS sources, and the low ESR Japanese capacitors should last up to twice as long as standard.
The new ASUS ROG STRIX Gold Aura as an ATX 3.0 power supply includes a 16-pin connector for direct compatibility with several NVIDIA GPU models from the Ampere (RTX 30) and Ada Lovelace (RTX 40) generations, eliminating the need for an adapter. They also supply “traditional” 8-pin connectors for those using an NVIDIA graphics card that isn’t newer or lower-end or some Radeon or Intel model.
These power supplies are the “Aura Edition” variant of the ROG STRIX power supplies already on the market, which excel, as their name suggests, for Aura Sync compatibility that allows users to control lights with the Fearless Eye RGB logo using the three-pin RGB header found on all motherboards.
At the moment, the prices and launch dates of the PSU belonging to the ASUS ROG STRIX Gold Aura series are not known, but the technical details of the 1,000, 850 and 750 watt models can already be consulted on the manufacturer’s official website.
