She is not a camera for you, but, excuse me, a complex of photo and video recordings of violations! Advanced, multi-tasking electronic intelligence with a high-tech lens that can recognize even unlit license plates on a dark night. A malfunction can only be caused by road debris or simply thrown snowballs. However, the TsODD in Moscow has already learned to deal with both “setbacks”. Details are on the AvtoVzglyad portal.

Cameras for recording traffic violations traditionally cause anger, irritation and discontent among Russians. They violated the sacred, you know, they do not allow to violate! And then it’s the weather itself for us: winter! Either snow, or rain, or dirt from the road, interspersed with reagents, reaches the windows of the seventh floor.

In other words, not only the license plates of the car are covered with impenetrable blackness, but also the “peephole” of the camera is immediately covered with it. A few days of such weather – and you can safely on the “assignment”, but in excess! We hasten to disappoint: it is impossible. And it’s not even about the traffic police waiting for everyone on the road, but about the new devices that they have started to equip the cameras with this year.

No one is introduced to electronics and stuff – the secret is sealed – but we can judge the appearance for ourselves – no one forbids looking at the camera. And there is something to see: already on many Moscow streets, cameras are equipped with special barrels of liquid. Heating? Cooling? Antifreeze? Everything is much easier…

This is a window cleaner. Judging by the color – from plastic canisters, which are sold on the roadside for a “small share”. The liquid is fed to the “visor” through a regular nozzle and then, due to gravity, rolls to the ground, leaving the camera lens clean. I wonder if the “tripods” will be fitted with “don’t stand under the pole – it’s dripping” signs?

Imagination is a powerful thing. Therefore, by analogy with car windows and headlights, one should expect the appearance of “windshield wipers” that would wipe off the remnants of the liquid. However, windshield wipers are unlikely to reach: when combined with dirt, dust and sand, they will quickly scratch an expensive lens and disable the camera. So the city council decided to make do with washing machines only. The only question is: how often do these barrels need to be refilled? Will it not turn out that the cameras are clean and that one lane is always occupied by a car with a lift, which in turn fills all the “electronic eyes” on the street?

What about snow, you ask? With precipitation (both with the same snow and with rain), everything is much simpler. The solution has been applied for more than a year: each camera has a visor (hood), which protects not only from direct sunlight, which regularly spoils the picture, but also from precipitation. The lens hood is equipped with heating, so that the lens is always clean. So even a direct hit from a snowball with a characteristic trail will not disable the camera for a long time.
