Due to the curfews in China, Apple will sell 20 million iPhones less than planned in the current quarter. Authorized analyst Ming-Chi Kuo talked about it on his Medium blog.
According to Kuo, Apple is unable to meet demand for acquisitions and will sell between 70 and 75 million iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, 15 to 20 million less than planned.
The famine is attributed to the outbreak of COVID-19, which led to lockdowns and protests by workers at Foxconn, where iPhones are manufactured in China. Kuo also noted that Pegatron and Luxshare ICT have received about 10% of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max production orders from Foxconn, but that the finished smartphones are not expected to be delivered before the end of December.
Given that the cost of the iPhone 14 Pro models remains high, the shortage of these models will significantly reduce Apple’s revenues in Q4 2022.
The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are not currently available in the US and are expected to ship after at least December 29. This puts most Americans at risk of missing out on their Apple smartphone as a Christmas present.
