Former Apple employees make a screenless gadget to end the “smartphone age”

The startup Humane, consisting of former Apple employees, announced the presentation of its first device, which, according to the developers, will begin to reject people from smartphones in favor of gadgets of a new form factor. This was reported by 9To5Google, citing Humane president Imran Chaudhry’s speech at the Voices 2022 conference.

It is noted that the presentation of the mysterious device will take place in the spring of 2023. For now, it is known that it will be a wearable device with a laser projector that displays images in the palm of your hand. At the same time, the image will be interactive: thanks to the LiDAR or Time-of-Flight sensor, you can interact with it like a touchscreen.

9To5Google believes the Humane device will basically be a traditional Android smartphone, but with a new form of input.

Speaking about his gadget in Voices 2022, Imran Chaudhry said that the Humane device has a better chance of replacing the smartphone than VR helmets and AR glasses. According to Chaudhry, the main problem with headphones is that they somehow isolate the person from the environment and interfere with people’s natural communication.
