The European Union has opened a cyber defense laboratory in Kiev that will help the Armed Forces protect themselves and Ukrainian cyberspace from attacks by the Russian aggressor.

This was reported on the website of the European External Action Service, reported Ukrinform.

“Using the European Peace Fund, the EU financed and provided equipment, security software and protection tools for a cyber lab for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This cybernetics lab opened today in Kiev.”

As noted, this will allow Ukraine to create and develop capabilities for effective cyber defense of the Armed Forces, identification of external interference in information systems, prevention and repelling of cyber attacks, as well as for the general strengthening of capabilities in the field of cybersecurity.

According to the service, this lab will provide a platform for military cybersecurity training and hone their skills using realistic scenarios and real-time simulations that will enable them to identify, track and defend against future cyberattacks faster and more effectively.

As reported, on 15 December 2021, the EU approved a €31m military aid package to Ukraine under the European Peace Fund, which aims, among other things, to strengthen the Armed Forces’ cyber resilience.
