BAE Systems presented a new BMP concept for the USA

BAE Systems presented the concept of a promising infantry fighting vehicle (BMP) developed as part of the American On Demand Manned Combat Vehicle (OMFV) program. Breaking Defense writes that the promising machine can replace the M2 Bradley BMP, developed in the USA.

The new BMP will receive a hybrid diesel-electric power plant with a capacity of 1,070 horsepower. James Miller, Vice President of BAE Systems, noted that the BMP design uses a series installation and its elements are distributed throughout the body of the machine. This reduces the thermal visibility of the BMP.

The promising car can travel 2.5 km on batteries alone. The batteries also provide nine hours of onboard equipment operation with the engine off. The mass of the BMP with additional protection is 50 tons.

The machine will receive an unmanned turret of the company Elbit Systems with automatic cannon XM913 caliber 50 millimeters and anti-tank missiles. The combat module is equipped with the Advanced Aiming and Kill Automatic System (ATLAS), which can detect and select potential targets as well as guiding weapons.

In addition, the OMFV can receive the Robotic Technology Core system, which will provide autonomous navigation over rough terrain and pilot the machine on demand.
