The Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou will be fully operational in early January 2023, following the mass workers’ uprising. This was reported by the Reuters agency, citing sources and representatives of the factory, which is known as Apple’s main venture in the world due to the assembly of most iPhone smartphones.

Foxconn said it has already started recruiting new employees to work at its Zhengzhou facility. According to experts, the volume of production of Apple gadgets at the factory in November fell from 30% to 80%.

Sources believe that if the process of hiring workers proceeds uninterrupted and without new problems, it will take three to four weeks to restore full production.

The agency explained that HR experts’ fears were solely driven by reputational costs stemming from the recent mass unrest at the Foxconn factory. In their view, this could potentially result in a shortage of new staff.

Protests at Apple’s largest smartphone factory haven’t subsided in several weeks – people are demanding fair wages and the repeal of tough coronavirus measures.
